Works for Me Wednesday Christmas Edition

My works for me wednesday may seem silly to some…but I love it.  We draw names on my side of the family.  Last year, I drew my dad’s name and because I think he is a little on the difficult side to purchase gifts for, I was trying to get creative.  I succeeded.  My two Oldest Children drew and painted 8 X 10 canvases with acrylic paint. Now, my kids take art lessons from my friend Flicka’s mom but if you don’t have that option, get an Usborne drawing book and you will be thrilled!  We varnished them and I had them framed 1/2 off at Hobby Lobby (I now would choose Michaels, they don’t charge the 1.00 for the back part).  I wrapped them up and my dad was THRILLED!  He had original artwork by his grandbabies!  It was such a hit, others mentioned if we drew their names, they too would like to have the same gift.  SOOOO my WFMW is simple, use your children’s creativity and 10 – 15 dollars at a craft store and you will have VERY happy relatives! Here is one of my 6 year old’s drawings:

  1. That is a wonderful idea! Thank you.

  2. That is a fun gift. I bought some cheap canvases this summer and had the kids paint outdoors. Both pictures ended up very abstract – but colorful!

    Barn picture is cute.
