Works for me Wednesday

Allowing them to choose their own sleep attire. I know this sounds so silly but we have a STRANGE bird at our house. Youngest boy loves to sleep in the strangest things. Tonight, I came home from an AWESOME speaker (more on that in another post) on how he became a Christian from atheism. Anyway, Youngest Boy was asleep. WITH HIS HAT ON. The other night, he wore his gloves. He normally requests his robe and his 2 piggies and his raincoat. Regardless, as long as it’s safe, we let him sleep in whatever he wants. It helps him get to sleep and keeps mommy and daddy from going insane! So sleeping in gloves, hats, raincoats, etc. WORKS FOR ME!

  1. Great tip! I also let my son pick out what he wears out of the house (as long as he’ll be warm enough!) He comes up with some interesting ensembles but he also gets to practice talking with all the adults who want to talk with him about his outfit!

  2. I love this! I had a friend who recently had a battle of wills over braids with her 5 year old. She asked me. I told her. Fight the important battles. In the long run, braids are nothing.

  3. I so agree with Julie. I am glad your little one will sleep in his raincoat or whatever. The raincoat may save some wet beds! I remember when my youngest, now 29, wore her favorite outfit as often as she could–a red vinyl raincoat over a purple print dress. 20 years later when she was on a mission trip to the Philippines, the missionary she worked with commented on her “unique sense of style”. Like Julie says, fight the important battles.
