Works For Me Wednesday

My WFMW is regarding eating out. We are not wealthy people, and I would like to believe we would still do this even if we were wealthy…because we are trying to be FRUGAL…but I digress. Each morning, as I have said before in previous WFMW, I make all four kids lunches. 2 of the kids are going to school and will need the lunch at school. The other two, MIGHT, just MIGHT end up going to a restaurant to eat if that is the plan for the day. Instead of purchasing a kids meal or additional food my children won’t eat and I might take home and will probably throw away later because they still haven’t eaten it and I’ve forgotten about it, the kiddos take their lunch with them. This is not a strange thing for us…at least not anymore. It does take some getting used to and you might get a few weird looks but I have decided I didn’t care if I got strange looks, my pocketbook speaks volumes about what those looks are worth!!

BTW, the kids are oblivious…this is what they know. They still love to go out to eat and they behave even better because they are not waiting for food and they are eating what they love…

So my WFMW is to pack their lunch! For more WFMW, visit Shannon’s Blog.

  1. Great tip!!

  2. we do this too!
or now a days we all four split something.

  3. I don’t usually pack an entire lunch for my kids but I do always take them part of their lunch. Of course, my kids are bottomless pits and eat way more than you can possibly imagine so we never throw away or bring home anything for them! They are cleaning their plates sorta kids!!

  4. We had a favorite pizza place before we moved (when the boys were little) and we used to go every Sunday night after church. We always took sippy cups and finger food for them, and cans of soda for us. We even brought our own pizza cutter to make cutting up their pizza into tiny pieces a breeze. I’m all about being frugal and efficient, no matter what the looks. :) Thanks for making me feel less alone!

  5. This is a great idea and I wish I had done it with my boys when they were younger. Do you think it’s too late? They are 15, 12 and 10? Ha!
